Mister Wibble

BT is true to Phorm

Following on from this post

We learn that BT had been trialling the Phorm prototype in 2006/7. Without prior consultation of it's service users.

More than 30,000 customers were tracked. Now that the nasty stuff has hit the fan, BT are contacting 10,000 customers asking for their co-operation in the next phase which is to happen in May.

So you're saying I'm automatically opted in?
"Yes. If your ISP is Virgin Media, BT or Talk Talk, your browsing details WILL be sent to Phorm by default, you will be required to disable the Phorm system by opting out on every browser that uses your network connection. There is no way to 'global opt out' of the Phorm system.
"

From the Bad Phorm website.

“As you browse, we’re able to categorize all of your Internet actions,”

Virasb Vahidi - chief operating officer of Phorm

Are you comfortable with the fact that ISP's and marketing companies can - at present - legally track your web activities?

"Yes indeed Mr BT, please do enjoy the tasteful shots of my splendid bottom, which I post to my lover via Flock and my private Flickr account."  "You're welcome to root through my entire personal web history." "Thankyou."

Don't let Phorm/Webwise force you to opt in by default - for users of Firefox

Well, since I have internet explorer at home, I can't use your lovely add on. And besides, I don't know whether we have anything to do with BT. Arg. You've got me confused, and mildly worried at the same time.

PS - at last, a sum I can do. 1+2=? Woohoo!
