thank you
old. goat.
Soho.
Much that I love the place, it's fizzing atmosphere, the frisson of naughtiness and hedonism, the general brouhaha and hubbub rumbling in the narrow alleyways; It is time to seek out more gentle, soothing environs. I shall never more descend the steps of the Friendly Society, or squeeze nervously into Comptons et al.
I do not possess the energy, stamina, enthusiasm, or volition to spend my Saturday evening dodging pilled-up, coked-up, breezered-up young rakes and sirens who are indeed "loving it". The night bus home via the Old Kent Road now fills me with dread; the hordes of the south London git-ocracy have made it impossible, and thirty-five english pounds for a cab is better spent on a new bird-guide, or scrumptious Sunday lunch with my beloved at The Honor Oak.
It's not that I resent the young people enjoying themselves; why shouldn't they spoil the pristine sepulcres of their bodies with kebab, repetitive beats, kiddy vodka, and badly made disco biscuits?
"Go on, have it" I say; but preferably not in my vicinity, or indeed while I'm settling down to the Antiques Roadshow and a chocolate Hobnob.

ohhh.....am feeling slightly uncomfortable that at the age of 27 (and probably since the age of 22) I can relate to this entire post, whats wrong with me?! Hmmm.....'Grumpy Young Women' doesn't quite have the same ring to it does it?....clearly 'avin it' I aint....ohh must go, Gardener's World has started....;o)
Ahhh I'm getting there myself! Hordes of yound people off their heads just makes me uneasy these days. Personally it all changed when I had kids though. Must be a 'got something to be responsible for' thing. Nowadays though I much prefer a good movie and a meal or something.
Ahh S - I see you're logged on as me! I'll have to delete the cookie on your laptop!
You dirty stop out. Hope you got home in one piece ;-)Oh you old git you!! Actually, I know what you mean, I ventured out to Soho last night and hoped to be back for Horlicks at 10.00! Oooohhh so many fashion victims....... Maybe this is just called old age!
